California Registered Agent Support Program

  • California-based program support
  • Secure post-checkout intake and document upload
  • Standard and reduced annual rates
  • Human review before activation

Why the program exists

Required compliance support should not be out of reach.

California entities must maintain an agent for service of process. Very small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community projects may have limited administrative staff, unstable office arrangements, or concerns about listing a home address. This program provides a dependable point of contact for official documents without positioning registered-agent support as an ordinary high-pressure commercial service.

Program revenue supports the cost of maintaining reliable availability, secure records, document handling, notifications, and staff review. Reduced rates demonstrate the Foundation’s commitment to charitable access while the standard fee keeps the program sustainable.

Annual program rates

One core service with rates based on access needs.

Standard annual program fee

$120

The sustainable annual rate for small businesses and other organizations that do not qualify for a reduced rate.

Eligible nonprofit rate

$60

A provisional reduced rate for eligible nonprofit corporations, tax-exempt organizations, fiscally sponsored projects, and qualifying community organizations.

Financial-hardship rate

$45

A provisional reduced rate when the standard fee would create a meaningful financial barrier to maintaining required compliance support.

Limited fee waivers: A small number of fee waivers may be available when charitable funding permits. Waiver requests are reviewed separately and are not guaranteed.

Current clients: Customers who already paid for a term remain protected through the end of that paid term. A future renewal uses the applicable rate communicated for the new term.

How enrollment works

A simple qualification and activation pathway.

  1. Answer simple self-attestation questions. The initial questionnaire does not request income records, tax returns, Social Security numbers, banking information, or documents.
  2. Receive a provisional rate. The result is the standard, nonprofit, or financial-hardship annual rate.
  3. Complete secure checkout. The matching hidden program product is added only through the qualification pathway.
  4. Finish secure intake. After checkout, provide the entity and authorized-contact information needed for setup.
  5. Complete review. Red Tape Foundation may request reasonable proof for a reduced rate and confirms when the record is ready.

Important service boundaries

Registered-agent support is not legal representation.

  • Red Tape Foundation is not a law firm and does not provide legal or tax advice.
  • The program does not include legal representation, deadline calculation, litigation strategy, or filing guarantees.
  • Clients remain responsible for government filings, fees, signatures, business decisions, and responding to legal documents.
  • Checkout alone does not complete an appointment. Service begins only after the required intake is reviewed and activation is confirmed.
  • Registered-agent service is separate from mailbox, virtual-office, or general business-mail services.

Privacy and verification

Only the information reasonably needed for the program.

The initial qualification questionnaire asks only about organization type, California program need, and financial-barrier self-attestation. Reduced-rate eligibility remains provisional until reviewed. When reasonable proof is requested, it must be submitted through the secure portal—not through general contact forms or ordinary email.

Do not submit Social Security numbers, complete banking credentials, medical records, passwords, or unrelated sensitive information.

Start with the qualification questions.

The questionnaire routes each applicant to the matching annual rate without collecting unnecessary sensitive information.
